Annual Awards Dinner & Auction

The NAWIC Boise Chapter’s Annual Awards Dinner and Auction is held in the beginning of the year. Proceeds from the auction help to fund all our service and scholarship activities for the year. We are fortunate to enjoy the support of our representative companies and others who attend the event and bid generously on auction items. Bidding is heavy each year on the silent dessert auction in which each table is guaranteed a delicious dessert if one is purchased at the bid table! Be a part of building our construction education community!

Block Kids

This program is geared to interest children in grades 1-6. The program introduces the children to the construction industry in an effort to create an awareness of and promote interest in future careers in the many facets of the construction industry. NAWIC members visit elementary schools and provide each contestant with building blocks, a piece of string, aluminum foil and a rock, and are asked to design and create a structure of their own design. Winners of this event advance to regional and national competitions.

Drafting Competition

The CAD/Design Drafting Competition is designed for senior high students. Objectives of the contest are to introduce the student to the construction industry in a positive and challenging manner, while fostering a sense of self-worth and building confidence. The contest provides recognition to students for creative design, successful problem solving, and craftsmanship in preparing architectural drawings. Project drawings must include a minimum of a floor plan, exterior elevation, site plan, and placement of structure. Entries are evaluated for detail, accuracy and originality of work. Winners of this event advance to regional and national competitions.

Casino Express

Casino Express is another NAWIC fundraising opportunity. Members man blackjack, poker, roulette and craps tables for hire at business functions and community events. Funds from these Casino Express events are used to support the mission and activities of the Boise Chapter.

NAWIC's Women in Construction Week

WIC Week is celebrated with other National NAWIC Chapters in March of each year. The focus of WIC Week is to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry. It is also a time for local chapters to give back to their communities. WIC Week also provides an occasion for NAWIC’s thousands of members across the country to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry.
